Cataract treatment

Cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens. The eye’s lens which lies behind the iris and the pupil is responsible for focusing the light onto the retina at the back of the eye to produce clear images.

The lens is mostly made of water and protein. The protein is arranged in a way that keeps the lens clear and lets light pass through it. But as a natural result of ageing, some of the protein may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens preventing light from passing through the eye and making sight blurred or fuzzy. Over time, it may grow larger and cloud more of the lens, making it harder to see. Therefore, for most people, cataracts are a natural result of ageing.

Cataracts generally develop over a long period of time, slowly worsening the eyesight.

They can eventually lead to blindness. Cataract surgery removes the cataract and can greatly improve vision.

There is no single cause of cataract. A number of risk factors seem to have an impact. There are some risks that can be reduced by a change in lifestyle, and some that can't.
Please go ahead to raise your awareness of the risks that can be reduced and treatments were possible.
